A captivating journey spanning five days from Paro to Thimphu, or vice versa, traversing the mountainous terrain that separates these two valleys. Despite its sparse population, the route is adorned with stunning lakes brimming with fish, and renowned for its breathtaking rhododendron forests, particularly vibrant during the blooming season in May. In late autumn and winter, clear skies offer magnificent views of the Himalayas.
Upon arrival at Paro airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and escort you to your hotel. Spend the night in Paro.
Embark on a journey to Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1646 to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invaders. Marvel at the towering walls and enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Chomolhari. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest shrines, and explore Ta Dzong, now the National Museum. Conclude the day with a visit to Rinpung Dzong. Overnight in Paro.
Commence your trek with a short climb to Jele Dzong, offering panoramic views of Paro valley and snow-capped mountains. Camp overnight.
Trek through alpine forests and rhododendrons, enjoying vistas of Chomoihari and encountering yak herders. Camp overnight.
Follow the ridge with sensational views of mountains and valleys. Camp near Jimilangtsho lakes renowned for giant trout. Overnight camp.
Trek through dwarf rhododendron trees, passing Janetsho lake and yak herders’ camps. Camp near Simkota Lake.
Enjoy majestic views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum as you descend through juniper trees. Overnight at Phajoding cafeteria or camp, depending on weather.
Descend to Thimphu through a forested area of blue pine. Enjoy leisure time in Thimphu. Overnight in Thimphu.
Embark on a full-day excursion to Punakha and Wangdue valleys. Visit Punakha Dzong and Wangduephodrang Dzong. Return to Thimphu for the night.
Explore Thimphu, including visits to National Memorial Chorten, Tashichhodzong, and Handicrafts Emporium. Return to Paro for the night.
After breakfast, transfer to Paro airport for your onward journey.
